We all like to try and save a few pennies here and there and one simple way to do that is to grow your own herbs rather than buy new ones every time. It saves on plastic too!
Of course, some herbs will be a lot easier to care for than some others, such as thyme. This is one of the easiest to grow, it just needs plenty of sunlight and regular watering.
Rosemary, on the other hand, can be more difficult! It needs a lot of sunlight, watering well but not over watering and regular checks for pests and disease.
You’ll get the best results if you grow each different herb in its own pot so that it has plenty of space to grow and you can give each individual plant its own specific care.
If you plan to buy them as plants then you’ll want to buy from a garden centre rather than a supermarket. This is because when the herbs are transported from the greenhouses they could be chilled as they are transported in lorries along with other groceries being delivered which could cause the plants to wilt and start to die off. Herbs need warm environments to thrive.
