Large-Fruited Wire-Netting Bush Overview
Corokia macrocarpa is an evergreen shrub species from the Argophyllaceae family. This plant is commonly known by the name Large-Fruited Wire-Netting Bush and it originates from the Chatham Islands, near New Zealand. In its natural climate, in optimal, sheltered conditions, it can reach 6m in height. This plant is usually grown under protection outside of New Zealand and typically grows to a much smaller size. It produces leathery green leaves with silvery-white, felty undersides, measuring between 5-10cm in length. Flowers are star-like, 5 petalled and coloured yellow, these appear from late spring to early summer and lead onto orange fruits. Corokia macrocarpa likes dry soil and full sun, it is moderately hardy and should be able to cope with temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees Celsius.
