Mock Orange 'Belle Etoile' Overview

Philadelphus 'Belle Etoile' is a compact, deciduous shrub that produces deep green oval leaves and many long-lasting, sweet-smelling, single, cup-shaped white flowers (with a splash of purple in the centre) in June and July. Low maintenance and its tolerance of polluted and salted air make this a particularly popular addition to urban and coastal gardens. Its tolerance of poor soil and its orange-blossom fragrance make it a hit with everyone else too! Its preference however, is for moderately fertile, well-draining soil and it is happy in sun or part shade. It is suited equally to a sunny mixed border or a light woodland garden. Unsurprisingly, this Mock Orange cultivar has earned a coveted 'RHS Award of Garden Merit'.
