This is a vigorous, clump-forming evergreen perennial growing from rhizomes. It has upright, dark grey-green leaves and, in late winter and early spring it produces fragrant lavender flowers with veined yellow-marked falls.
Generally not harvested.
Divide rhizomes in midsummer to early autumn.
