Morning Glory Overview
Ipomoea tricolor is an attractive, short-lived herbaceous perennial species with a twining, climbing habit. Capable of growing 2-4m tall, this species produces spirally arranged foliage. Leaves are between 3-7cm in length and the flowers are trumpet-shaped and measure approximately 4-9cm across. These are blue-purple, with yellow centres. It is more often grown as an annual plant in temperate climates as it doesn't cope with temperatures below 5 degrees Celcius. Many cultivars in a range of colours have been produced from this plant, they are commonly grown in gardens.
