Witch Hazel 'Rubin' Overview
Hamamelis × intermedia 'Rubin' is a deciduous shrub with a rounded growth habit that is grown for its late winter display of slightly scented crumped ruby-red flowers that appear on bare branches before the green wrinkled leaves emerge in spring. In addition, this shrub or small tree, also known as Witch Hazel, will provide autumn colour as its oval-shaped foliage turns varying shades of yellow and orange before falling. An easy to grow plant that prefers acidic (ericaceous) soil will thrive in sheltered yet sunny sites and only needs a light prune in spring to remove any damaged, diseased, or crossing branches. This cultivar has earned a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
