Gleditsia triacanthos f.inermis 'Sunburst' is a small deciduous tree that has an airy and open canopy with delicate foliage that is a pale yellow when new. This tree is often chosen as a sturdier alternative to a Robinia pseudoacacia with stouter limbs with the added bonus of being thornless. Being tolerant of pollution, drought, salt, and winds making this tree well suited to roadsides, carparks, and coastal gardens.

Flowers are small and can be inconspicuous. Buds can have a slight pinkness to them before they burst.
