Spindle Overview

Euonymus europaeus - also commonly known as Spindle (amongst other names) - is a bushy, deciduous shrub with spreading branches and narrow ovate leaves that turn red or gold in autumn. Panicles of small yellow flowers in late spring/summer, are followed by red fruits with orange seeds, in autumn. A versatile and popular shrub that is suitable in a wide range of situations, Euonymus europaeus is tolerant of most aspects and is happy in most soils as well as sun or shade. It is low maintenance and can be planted for hedging and in wildlife gardens.
