Montbretia 'Babylon' Overview

Crocosmia × crocosmiiflora 'Babylon' is often known by the names Crocosmia Babylon or Montbretia 'Babylon'. It is a cormous perennial cultivar from the Iris family, Iridaceae. It has an upright habit and typically grows to around 1m in height, producing narrow, grass-like leaves and attractive red-orange flowers with yellow centres. The flowers are borne in airy sprays. Flowering occurs in the summer and this plant is deciduous, thus loses its green foliage in the autumn and regrows new leaves in the spring. Grows best in partially shaded conditions, in moist, well-draining soil. This cultivar has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
