Feather Reed Grass 'Karl Foerster' Overview

Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' is a tall tufted grass. A deciduous, clump-forming perennial, it has erect, flat, arching leaves - that grow up to 90cm in length. In summer, bronze flower panicles appear, that later fade to light brown. Also called Feather Reed Grass 'Karl Foerster', they are great architectural grasses, adding height, definition and movement to borders of all kinds, shapes and sizes. Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' has earned a coveted 'RHS Award of Garden Merit'. Robust, hardy and tolerant of most conditions (except the poorest of soils), it is a very useful and low maintenance plant, suitable for most gardens, including prairie planting. All you need to do, is cut it back to the ground before new growth appears in early spring.
