Bullwort Overview

Ammi majus is an upright annual species in the carrot family, Apiaceae. Also known by the names bullwort, common bishop's weed, Queen Anne's lace and false bishop's weed. Foliage is divided into a 2 to 3-pinnate arrangement and white flowers are produced in compound umbel arrangements. Umbels are clusters of flowers which radiate from a central stem point. Flowers are produced on stalks of roughly equal length, to form a flattened or slightly rounded, horizontal surface of blooms. This plant has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. It is advised to sow in September (UK) for best results the following summer.
