× Heucherella Overview

× Heucherella is an artificial genus of evergreen, clump-forming perennials derived from a cross between the Heuchera and Tiarella genera in the Saxifrage family. They are cultivated for their brilliant and varied foliage and upright flower stalks with tiny bell-shaped, pink or white flowers. Leaves may be oval, rounded or lobed and vein patterning is characteristic of the Tiarella parent. They do best in partial shade, however newer varieties are being bred with more tolerance to sun. They are tall with airy stems and attractive flowers. Fully hardy. Prefers semi-shade and needs fertile, well-drained soil. Propagate by basal cuttings in spring or by division in spring or autumn.
