Zinnia Overview

The genus Zinnia comprises 20 species of annuals, perennials, and subshrubs from Mexico, S. W. USA, and Central and South America. They are typically cultivated for their solitary, daisy-like flowerheads, which come in a huge variety of colours. Many forms are generally half-hardy annuals, popular for use in mixed borders, for edging, window-boxes, and ever as cut flowers. They tolerate high temperatures and prefer well-drained soil, and are particularly grown to attract butterflies.
