Money Tree Overview
Pachira aquatica is a tender perennial species that is commonly grown as a houseplant. It is often sold as multiple plants, with their stems plaited together to form 'one' plant. It has green shiny ovate leaves and an arching habit. In its native habitat, it can grow up to 18m tall with shiny green palmate leaves. Its showy white-yellow flowers have a bottlebrush-like appearance, often tipped in red. They open like a banana peel to reveal yellow hair-like stamens. Edible nuts are produced in large woody pods, which are said to taste like peanuts!
