Plectranthus verticillatus is part of the mint family, Laminaceae, and has fragrant foliage when crushed. The stems are significantly square in shape when cut through. This is a soft, semi-succulent, aromatic, perennial that grows to between 10–30.5 cm tall with a spread of about 60 cm. This is an annual, evergreen perennial or shrub that has heart shaped leaves and tubular flowers that bloom in summer.
