Mulanje Cycad Overview
This cycad is indigenous to the Mulanje Mountains in the south-eastern parts of Malawi. It grows in rocky ravines and on the fringes of riverine forests. Female plants produce 2 - 5 cones. Cones are cylindrical, 62 - 65 cm in length, pink-brown in colour and are covered in fine red-brown hairs. Seeds are dark pink to red in colour.
