Origanum majorana is also known as Sweet Marjoram. It is a low-growing compact perennial herb from the mint family, Lamiaceae. Often grown as an annual. It has a spreading habit, the leaves are soft with a subtle sweet aromatic flavour and often used like origanum in cooking. Flowers are small and delicate, coloured white-purple. Sweet Marjoram can be planted as pretty groundcover or its a favourite in the vegetable patch or kitchen garden. It is well known for its culinary as well as medicinal uses.
