A beautiful and interesting corn variety. Strawberry popcorn has attractive ruby red kernels, for decoration or popping for popcorn. When heated, the kernels will pop to make small to medium-sized popcorns.
Leave the cobs on the plant until they are fully mature (about 4 months), otherwise, the popcorn may not pop. The silks should be brown and dry. Dry them indoors for a further 14 days. Store the whole corn till needed by plating the dried outer leaves of the cobs and hang it up in a dry shed.
Sowing time is best in Spring or early Summer. Space the seeds 25 - 35 cm apart in rows. Sowing depth best 40 - 50 mm deep. Germination time is 5 - 7 days.
Needs a large container (half a wine barrel is a good choice).
Effective fast grower that can serve as seasonal windbreak.

This popcorn has red kernels but when popped is a vivid white with some red centres that remain.
