    Overview

Genus of around 20 annual, perennial and evergreen subshrubs originating from Africa and Australia. They produce daisy-like yellow, orange or white flowers, sometimes with contrasting coloured markings. It includes the well known ox-eye daisy, also termed Cape daisy, Cape marigold or African daisy. Species in this genus can readily hybridise with species in the genus Osteospermum and they are widely sold as cultivated ornamental plants. Deadheading flowers past their prime encourages more vigorous flowering.
