Calendula is a genus of around 20 annual and perennial evergreen shrub and herbaceous species native to West Europe, Macaronesia, the Mediterranean and Southwest Asia. Commonly known as marigolds, this genus contains recognisable species, the most well known of which, Calendula officinalis is the pot marigold, which is cultivated as a popular garden plant. Flowers range in colour from white to orange and yellow and can have single or double flowers.
