Othonna Overview

Othonna is a genus of around 150 species of flowering plants in the daisy family native to South Africa. They are evergreen or deciduous succulents or subshrubs with diverse forms that inhabit arid, rocky regions that survive due to their underground storage organs which allow them to grow without soil. They are popular among cactus and succulent collectors in search of winter-growing specimens. They are ideal candidates for house plants, desert planting and sunny rock gardens.
