Strawberry tree Overview
A genus of 11 accepted species of evergreen trees and shrubs, grown for their edible red berries, ornamental red peeling bark, foliage and small urn-shaped flowers. Favoring rocky habitats, they are native to warm temperate locations in the Mediterranean, West Europe, the Canary Islands and North America.
How to propagate Strawberry tree
Propagation is by semi-ripe cuttings in the late summer.
Seed in the autumn.
Other uses of Strawberry tree
Ornamental fruits and flowers. Suitable for coastal conditions. The wood is used as fuel and in traditional medicine of the Straits Salish people of Vancouver Island.
