Natal Flame Bush Overview

Alberta is a genus with just 1 recognised species, A. magna which is also known as the Natal flame bush. This species originates from KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa and is classed as an evergreen shrub or small tree. It has rough, grey bark, brown-green branches and attractive, simple oval, glossy leaves. Flowers are vibrant red, around 2.5cm in length and tubular in appearance, produced at the tips of branches in late summer through to autumn. Small ribbed fruits with colourful red wings are formed after flowering.
