An Old World genus of annuals, perennials or subshrubs in the Brassicaceae family with 29 accepted species. They have narrow leaves and dense flowerheads usually in white, pink or purple. Commonly known as candytuft, in the garden they are often used as rock garden ornamentals, thriving on poor, freely-draining soils in full sun.
