A genus comprising 30 species of shrubs or small trees in the Scrophulariaceae (figwort) family native to Australia, New Zealand and other South Pacific islands, and islands of the Indian Ocean. Several species are commonly used in cultivation as ornamental specimens for their white or pink flowers, or as hedges and wind brakes.
