Jerusalem Cherry 'Thurino' Overview
Solanum pseudocapsicum 'Thurino' is often grown as a houseplant or a tender annual. It is a bushy evergreen shrub species. It is part of the nightshade family, Solanaceae and commonly known as Jerusalem cherry 'Thurino', Christmas berry plant 'Thurino' or Winter cherry 'Thurino'. Flowers are white, with prominent yellow stamens in the centre, followed by bright orange-red ornamental berries. They measure approximately 1-2cm across and they are produced in clusters of between 2-3. Fruits are oval in shape and surrounded by modified leaves known as bracts, these are green in colour and the fruits develop from green to bright red-orange colours as they ripen, this occurs during the winter months.
