Elephant's Ear Overview

Alocasia cuprea is a tender, rhizomatous, evergreen perennial that originates from South-East Asia. It is typically grown for the foliage, which is large, oval, deeply veined and iridescent green-purple in colour. Dependent on the angle of viewing, the leaves can appear various different shades of green and purple. The undersides of the leaves are a vibrant purple colour, making a striking visual foliage display. Frequently grown indoors as a houseplant, this plant does best when provided with ample humidity. Placement in a bathroom or kitchen, in bright but indirect light is advised, ensure soil is a well-draining mix to prevent waterlogging to the roots.
