Stokes aster Overview
Stokesia is a genus that contains only one species, S. laevis, it is part of the daisy family Asteraceae and originates from Southeastern USA. They are cultivated for their neat, evergreen basal rosettes and the long-lasting cornflower-like blooms that are popular as cut flowers. Commonly called Stokes’ aster, there are several cultivars available, most with white or blue-purple flowers, occasionally pink or yellow. They need well-drained soil in a sheltered position.
