Lady's Mantle Overview
Alchemilla mollis is a herbaceous perennial also known commonly as Lady's Mantle. A low maintenance, spreading, plant that has pretty, light green foliage, makes it a great ground cover species. Leaves are softly hairy and they have scalloped and toothed edges. Flowers appear in the summer. They form a haze of tiny yellow blooms which grow in sprays above the foliage. Lady's Mantle is a good choice for a range of light levels - it can grow in full sun to full shade, making it a useful plant for areas where other plants struggle. Water droplets/beads remain on the leaves after rain, trapped by the hairs. These were once believed to be the purest form of water and used by alchemists in their quest to turn base metal into gold!
