Dwarf alder Overview
A small genus of 2 species of deciduous shrubs in the Hamamelidaceae family native to the Southeastern region of the US where they grow in woodlands and swamps. They are slow-growing with a rounded growth habit. Catkin-like spikes of tiny white flowers are produced in early Spring. They are also cultivated for their autumn foliage and favour an acidic soil in full sun or part shade.
