Forsythia Overview

Forsythia is a genus containing around 11 deciduous shrubs from the Oleaceae family. These plants are native to Eastern Asia and Southeastern Europe. They have bright yellow flowers produced in early spring before the leaves develop. There are several cultivars and hybrids available, bred for their cheery early colour and tough, reliable reputation as hardy garden shrubs.

How to propagate Forsythia

Cuttings

You can propagate by softwood or greenwood cuttings in the summer. Hardwood cuttings in the autumn or winter.

Other uses of Forsythia

Grown for their usually profuse, yellow flowers which open before the leaves emerge.
