Lavatera Overview

Pretty pink flowers cover this green perennial shrub during hot summer months. Lavatera has 25 plants species with annuals, biennials and perennials. The tree Lavatera is a large perennial with flowers in the second year. Many look-a-like flowers have moved from the Lavatera to the closely related Malva genus. Previously known as Lavatera thuringiaca, this plant's name change was announced by NATAG (RHS Nomenclature and Taxonomy Advisory Group) in the June 2021 edition of The Plant Review.
