Wild rye Overview

Elymus contains approximately 234 rhizomatous, perennial grass species also known as couch grass, wildrye and wheatgrass. This genus has undergone extensive reclassification over time, with many species once included within this genus now better placed within other genera. Growth occurs in tufts and they are suited to sandy soils, producing linear, flat or slightly rolled leaves and flowers are unassuming, bristled and brown-green.
