Small genus with 2 evergreen coniferous trees originating from Taiwan and China. Characteristic thick, red-brown bark has a fibrous texture and foliage is firm, pointed and reduced to narrow, almost needle-like but slightly triangular leaves. Also called China-fir, this genus is used in park landscaping as ornamental trees and may reach heights of 50m. It is also favoured for its soft, scented wood.
