Raspberry Family Overview
Rubus is a large genus containing around 1552 deciduous, semi-evergreen or evergreen shrubs including some woody-stemmed scrambling climbers, from the Rosaceae family. This genus contains widely cultivated species grown for their edible fruits such as Blackberry, Raspberry and Loganberry. They are also grown for their foliage, flowers or ornamental, thorny stems. Flowers are pink, red, purple or white, with 5 petals and shaped like cups. For optimal growth these plants require well-draining, fertile soil and full sun or partial shade.
