Ficus Alii Overview
Ficus maclellandii is an evergreen shrub or tree species dependent on how large it grows, from the Moraceae family. Commonly known by the names Ficus Alii, Alii Fig and Long Leaf Fig, amongst others. The leaves are long and narrow with slim points, measuring between 8-13cm in length and coloured dark green, tending towards a broader shape with height up the plant. This species is tender and grown for the foliage over the flowers, which are non-showy. It is usually grown indoors in temperate climates but can be put outside in the warmer summer months. Originating from southern Asia, it prefers bright but indirect light. this plant is grown as a popular foliage houseplant due to its elegant palm-like appearance and tolerance of low light.
