Stenocereus Overview

Stenocereus is a genus of around 21 perennial cacti species in the Cactaceae family. These plants are native to from the Greater Antilles to the Virgin Islands, they have a tree-like or narrow columnar growth habit. A well-known member of the group, S. thurberi, goes by the common name Organ Pipe Cactus for its fluted stem habit. They are cultivated as ornamental specimens in arid regions of the world and are also grown as glasshouse plants or houseplants.
