Cucumis Overview

Cucumis is a genus of around 55 species of tendril-climbing plants from Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Australia. It contains many widely cultivated foods such as cucumber, cantaloupe and honeydew melons and the West Indian gherkin and these are now grown and consumed all over the world agriculturally or in greenhouses. Cucumis plants are scrambling or climbing annuals or perennial tendril climbers. Leaves are lobed and angled, flowers are tubular and are coloured white or yellow.
