Queensland Umbrella Tree Overview

Schefflera actinophylla is an evergreen shrub or small tree from the Araliaceae family that grows between 2.5-4m in height, with a spread of around 2m. It produces leathery foliage arranged into 5 oblong leaflets measuring around 30cm long, these radiate outwards from stems. Commonly known by the names Queensland Umbrella Tree, Australian Ivy Palm and Octopus Tree, amongst others. Flowers are arranged densely on branched panicle arrangments, these are dull red in colour and lead onto black fruits. This plant has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
