Earth Star Overview

Cryptanthus is a genus containing around 51 evergreen perennial species in the Bromeliaceae family. These plants originate from eastern Brazil. They form rosettes of leathery, strap-shaped leaves with undulating margins. Often grown for the attractive foliage, leaves can be patterned and variegated. Common colours include shades of green, pink and purple and cream-white. Non-showy flowers may be produced in the summer, coloured green-white and often scented.
