Mountain ebony Overview
Genus containing over 360 evergreen, semi-evergreen or deciduous trees, shrubs and climbing species from tropical climates. Growing on average 6-12m tall, they also spread notably widthways, reaching 3-6m, with lobed leaves averaging 10-15cm in width. They are cultivated mainly for their 7.5-12.5cm wide, showy flowers, with 5 irregular petals, which resemble orchids. These are often scented and come in a range of bright colours.
