Bachelor's Buttons Overview
A monotypic genus comprising 1 species of suckering deciduous shrub in the Rosaceae family native to China, Japan and Korea where it is found in thickets on mountain slopes. The single species, K. japonica, has toothed leaves, an arching habit and rose-like bright yellow Spring flowers. They are popular garden ornamentals and there are cultivars with double flowers available commonly known as bachelor’s buttons.

Propagation is by softwood cuttings in the summer, by suckering.
Division in the autumn.
