The genus Emilia consists of around 115 herbaceous annual and perennial species also known as tasselflowers. Named after their flower appearance, these are either produced singly or in flattened corymbs, on upright stems and they resemble tassels, often coloured yellow, orange, red or purple. Originating from tropical and sub-tropical climates in Asia and Africa. This genus is found in the Asteraceae (Asteraceae) family of daisies.
