Basket grass Overview

There are about 16 species, they prefer shady areas in the tropics and subtropics, They are quick-growing trailing plants, which produce wiry stems. The flowers are bisexual with males and females in the same spikelet. Each flower head comprises spikelets, with one or more florets, that are covered with glumes or scales.
