Fouquieria Overview

A genus of 11 accepted species of desert plants in the Fouquieriaceae family native to Northern Mexico and some Southern States of the US where they inhabit low, arid hillsides. They have thin, spiky, semi-succulent stems carrying leaves on the basal spikes. Cultivated species, for example, F. splendens, are grown as unusual and curious glasshouse specimens.
