Bromeliad Overview
Genus with around 150 species of rosette-forming succulent perennials, characterised by their large, spiny, spiky foliage, usually grey-green or silvery in colour. They produce distinctive tubular flowers on branched or unbranched spikes that arise from the side of the leaf rosette. These flowers are brightly coloured - yellow or orange. This genus originates from South America and suits a desert, rock, gravel or Mediterranean garden. It may also be grown in colder, wetter climates under glass or as houseplants.
