Lawyer's tongue Overview
Originally from South Africa, the genus Gasteria contains around 26 succulent perennial species with characteristic tongue-shaped foliage arranged in rosettes. Flowers are interesting, shaped like stomachs and usually bicoloured red and green-orange. This genus readily hybridises with species in the closely related genera, Aloe and Haworthia. Adapted to dry, sandy soils, Gasteria are considered fairly easy to grow and are popular houseplants.
