Scabious Overview

A genus of around 48 species of annual or herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the Caprifoliaceae (honeysuckle) family native to Central Europe. Commonly known as widow flowers, these scabious relatives have characteristic pincushion flower heads and simple or pinnately-divided leaves. They are cultivated as garden plants and are often used in wildflower or rock garden naturalistic planting schemes.
