Bamboo Overview

Like most bamboos these differ from other perennial grasses because they have woody stems. The stems or culms are hollow and mostly greenish brown and very strong. The leaves are lance shaped with cross veins that will give a tessellated appearance. The flowers are produced at varying intervals but are not decorative.

How to propagate Bamboo

Seed

Seed in spring or autumn.

Division

By division in autumn; however forms should be propagated by division only.

Other uses of Bamboo

Grown for hedging as well as for ornamentation. The woody stems can have many uses.
