Aechmea Overview
Aechmea is a genus of evergreen, rosette-forming perennial plants from the family Bromeliaceae. There are at least 253 species and typically they grow in rainforest environments, ranging in location from Mexico to South America. These epiphytic plants grow without the need for soil substrate. They are frost sensitive and cultivated for their interesting, narrow foliage, spike-like flowers and fleshy, colourful fruits.
